Westcoast Wools commenced operations in May 1996 and has become one of the few surviving wool businesses that still maintains wool brokering, private treaty and export divisions within the one company. We differ from other wool companies because our export division (top 3 buyers in Fremantle in 2013-14 season) ensures our grower clients receive maximum price support whichever marketing option they choose.
We have representatives in Esperance, Albany, Katanning, Lake grace, Narrogin, Bolgart, Badgingarra, Dongara and Geraldton, with 90 per cent of these representatives trained internally. They service all growers’ wool needs, from buying oddments on-farm to advising on marketing strategies for complete wool clips. We have recently increased our presence, with another five younger staff joining our regional WA team.
The Westcoast Wools Katanning site is the only registered awta sampling site outside of the WA metropolitan area.
Our country receivals have grown to account for 10pc of all wool received by WA brokers and private treaty entities.
We participate at all wool auctions nationally (in top 15) and we are one of the major buyers (top 3) in WA.
